Location
The rich coral reef that surrounds the south and west coast of the island is a haven for marine life
and the stretch that runs from Ao Chao Phao up to Koh Ma is considered the best on Koh Pha Ngan,
making the region a hotspot for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts.
Here it is possible to see turtles, harmless reef sharks and to swim amongst shoals of colourful
tropical fish and both hard and soft corals.
Boat trips are a popular way to explore the coast and even venture over to Angthong National
Marine Park; with over 40 islands. The region is fairly mountainous away from the coast, and there
are a number of mountain trails and walks to follow. The large concentration of beaches in the
North/West of the island makes it is possible to beach hop up and down the coastline.
Wang Sai waterfall is within easy reach and Laem Son is a popular freshwater lake, shaded by tall
pine trees with a giant rope swing! Haad Yao has a great selection of restaurants, a bakery for fresh
breads and cakes and a variety of bars.
